Dr. John M. Otto, O.D. specializes as a medical optometrist. His long-standing career signals his dedication to bettering the lives of his patients through improved eye health and vision.

John Otto, O.D.

Dr. John Otto is a board certified medical optometrist with Eye Care of Delaware. Working as an optometrist for the Eye Care Department at the Healthcare Center at Christiana for 35 years, Dr. Otto also served as Director of the department for 26 years. He received numerous awards during his career there.

Dr. Otto earned his Bachelor of Science at the University of Delaware and his Doctorate of Optometry degree at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry/Salus University. He then completed three internships at the Lynch Pediatric Unit at the Eye Institute in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the Southeastern Eye Center in Greensboro, North Carolina and with Fred Carlin, O.D, in State College Pennsylvania. Dr. Otto completed his training with a one-year residency in ophthalmic practice with Omni Eye Services in Wilmington, Delaware.

 

An active supporter of his professional associations, Dr. Otto is a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry, (the first in Delaware), and a member of both the American and Delaware Optometric Associations. He has also served as a preceptor for Pennsylvania College of Optometry interns and for the Christiana Care Med/Peds Residency program and has lectured extensively.

A recent addition to the practice, Dr. Otto’s experience and dedication ensure that his patients receive the highest level of care. In his spare time, he enjoys travel, hiking, biking and spending time with his family.
