At Eye Care of Delaware, we offer a range of services to relieve symptoms and improve vision. Patients visit our surgical facility for vision care services, including treatment for degenerative conditions. Our skilled team is dedicated to offering the very best care and treatment options to preserve your eye health. Here are some of the services we provide.

Cataract Treatments

Cataracts, quite common as people age, could eventually require surgery to restore clear vision. If you notice clouded vision, light sensitivity, difficulty seeing in the dark and the need for more light while reading, these are common signs that you may have cataracts. It is not essential to seek treatment when cataracts first develop, but there will be a gradual deterioration that can interfere with your quality of life. Advanced cataracts can make driving difficult and dangerous. At Eye Care of Delaware, Dr. Boyd has extensive experience performing laser-assisted cataract surgery.

Refractive Surgical Options

Refractive surgery is the name for surgical procedures used to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism. Most people are familiar with LASIK (laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis) as a way to correct vision for those who do not want prescription eyeglasses or contact lenses.

There are, however, a number of other refractive surgery options used by Eye Care of Delaware. In total, there are four viable options – CustomVue LASIK, CustomVue PRK, EVO ICL (implantable contact lens) and Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE). Patients remain awake throughout each of these procedures.

Cornea Treatments

Corneal disorders can range in severity, with some issues not impeding vision and others causing great discomfort. However, all infections, allergies, abrasions, ulcers and other injuries to the protective outer layer of the eye should be taken seriously. At Eye Care of Delaware, we deliver targeted cornea treatments to restore clear vision and prevent ongoing issues with your vision. Even if you only experience some minor signs of an issue, infections can progress and may lead to a more serious condition over time.

Eyelid Surgery

Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, can fix the problems caused by drooping eyelids. The surgery lifts the eyelids and removes any excess tissue to prevent any interference with peripheral vision. In most cases, surgery is quick and comfortable, with no visible scarring. At Eye Care of Delaware, our skilled surgeons can repair the damage caused by aging or sun damage, while also removing puffiness that often occurs beneath the eye area.

Retinal Treatments

Have you ever experienced flashes of light or floaters in your vision? An occasional flash of light is usually of no concern, but if they appear more often, it could be a sign of retinal detachment. Additionally, a dark area could also signal a tear that requires retinal surgery.

The team at Eye Care of Delaware uses a number of retinal treatments to resolve the issue, including a scleral buckling operation. With the potential for deterioration to your vision, or even blindness, it is important to be aware of the early signs of a retinal tear and seek treatment.

Glaucoma Treatments

Damage to the optic nerve can cause a disease of the eye called glaucoma. Glaucoma is relatively common, but many patients don’t realize they have it. However, early awareness of the condition is one of the best ways to avoid vision problems and even blindness. At Eye Care of Delaware, we can diagnose and treat glaucoma before it increases in severity.
