Everyone, including the woman who called to confirm my appointment was very helpful. They patiently answered all my questions. I was very nervous about the surgery, but they made me feel very comfortaqble. Instructions were very clear and I received a follow-up call in the afternoon. The results are incredible!!! I can't believe the difference. Dr. Owczarek was very professional, gentle, and the actual surgery was quick and painless. I can't wait to get the other eye done. I would definitely recommend the Cataract and Laser Center to anyone who needs cataract surgery.

Everything went GREAT! My eyesight is PERFECT! I can't thank you all enough.

I am an owner operator truck driver and I recently failed the eye exam while renewing my driver's license. Upon completing an eye exam, I was found to have cataracts in both eyes. I made numerous calls to many doctors to schedule surgery but there were no openings for at least 1 month. I finally called Eye Care Of Delaware and explained my dire situation to Jane who immediately scheduled me for next day surgery. I want to especially thank Dr. Owczarek, Jane, and the rest of the office staff for the exceptional care I received. I would recommend Eye Care Of Delaware to anyone. Thanks again!

I wore glasses since elementary school and had been intrigued by the possibility of ditching my glasses ever since LASIK surgery gained popularity in the 90s. Of course I was squeamish at the thought of letting someone tamper with my eyes, so when I decided that I was ready to pursue this option in 2008, it wasn't a decision that I made lightly. I did my research, read the horror stories about what could go wrong and resolved that I would undergo the surgery only if I were considered a good candidate. I'd rather keep wearing glasses than lose my eyesight.

When I asked my optometrist about LASIK surgery he directed me to Dr. Frank Owczarek at Eye Care of Delaware. Before I actually met with Dr. Owczarek I underwent extensive testing to evaluate my suitability for LASIK surgery. Unfortunately, I was informed that I was not a good candidate for LASIK due to my extreme degree of nearsightedness and the thinness of my corneas. However, Dr. Owczarek informed me that I was likely a good candidate for a newer procedure - implantable collamer lenses (ICL). Having never heard of this procedure, I initially dismissed it and accepted that I would wear glasses for the rest of my life. However, after some reflection I researched the ICL procedure and decided to undergo the further tests required to evaluate my suitability for this procedure. Dr. Owczarek and Dr. Mitchell (the resident optometrist) answered all my questions and made sure that I understood the risks before I made my decision. I decided to go for it.

Dr. Owczarek and his staff were great during all stages of the surgery, from preparation through postoperative followup. During the surgery itself I had full confidence in Dr. Owczarek. The guy not only has his MD, but also a PhD. (in optics I believe). Not only is he a smart guy, but he has a good rapport with his patients as well. Most importantly, I couldn't be happier with the results of my surgery. Today I have vision better than 20/20.

Unlike some ophthalmologists who only perform LASIK, Dr. Owczarek has no incentive to push LASIK over any other procedure. He is most concerned with finding the most appropriate solution for his patients. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Dr. Owczarek and Eye Care of Delaware to anyone considering refractive surgery.

I would like to express my deep appreciation and joy for the restoration of sight to my eye as a result of cataract surgery. At the time of the operation, I was struggling with just about every aspect of my life that requires sight. I could not easily read and struggled every day at work. After surgery I now have vision corrected to 20/20, and the eye you operated on is now better than the other one. How wonderful it is to see trees and clouds and, yes, road signs, clearly once again!

I have no memory, even as a child, of being able to see without coke bottle glasses or hard contact lenses. Over the past several years I was screened for LASIK but turned down as a candidate because my vision is a -14 and my cornea wasn't thick enough. I felt so defeated, as I've been wearing contacts for 30 years and my dry eye issues were causing problems on and off, as well as the normal issues you have to deal with when wearing hard, gas permeable contact lenses and/or glasses. I just felt there was no hope at all for someone as "blind" as me to ever be able to see like "normal" people see. When my optometrist first brought the ICL procedure to my attention, it gave me renewed hope, but I was hesitant because of the experiences I had when I was screened for LASIK and I didn't want to get my hopes up too much. When I met Dr. Mitchell for my first appointment, he explained everything with such precision that I decided to take the plunge after my first exam, measurements and tests were run. I can tell you that it has been a life-changing decision for me. The day after surgery, while driving to my post-op appointment, I had tears of happiness streaming down my face because I couldn't believe the clarity and brightness that I had been missing. I could see every street sign and flower and leaf and it was so beautiful. I never dreamed I would be so blessed to now have 20/20 vision with no external corrective lenses of any kind. I had this procedure performed in June 2010 and I am still in awe and wonder every day I wake up and I can see everything so clearly. Thank you so much for helping me to attain such an amazing gift.

Thank you so much for my eyesight. You performed cataract surgery on both eyes and I am seeing the world for the first time without glasses. I pray nothing will change for me as I am so happy God answered my prayers. You and Dr. Loreto are a terrific team. Dr. Loreto got a hug, and I owe you one. Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

When I went for my annual eye exam I learned that there had been no change in my vision, glaucoma, or cataracts, but much to my surprise, I was diagnosed with age related macular degeneration in my left eye. Prior to this appointment I had no indication of any problems and my vision appeared to be normal. I scheduled an appointment to see Dr. Park and after some tests and pictures the diagnosis was confirmed. I was given an injection in my eye (no, it didn’t hurt because of the numbing drops) and some eye drops to use. Dr. Park will see me in a month and I was told to expect a noticeable improvement in my vision. I now understand the importance of routine eye check-ups since I had no warnings of this disease, and I have emailed my friends so they can benefit from my experience and hopefully retain their sight.

The main reason I considered LASIK is because wearing contacts really started to irritate my eyes. I have pingueculas in the whites of my eyes caused by overexposure to UV rays (I know now that I should have protected my eyes a long time ago and I now wear sunglasses faithfully). The discomfort and appearance of my blood vessels were becoming more obvious every day. In fact, sometimes people commented that it looked like my eyes were bleeding. I was also tired of wearing contacts and supplementing with my glasses at night and since I travel a lot my eyes were constantly drying out on the airplane. After my surgery my eyes felt immediate relief and the redness is hardly visible. It's also great not having to worry about packing contacts and spare set, solution and glasses. You can't appreciate the freedom of going without contacts and glasses until you don't have to wear them.

As for the staff and procedure, I was very impressed with how thorough Eye Care of Delaware was from the initial consultation to the day of surgery. They double and triple checked my eye mapping for accuracy. Dr. Mitchell has an incredible demeanor with his patients and conveyed the steps of the procedure in a way that left me feeling completely at ease with having the surgery. On the day of my surgery the staff makes you feel very relaxed and safe…important especially considering you are just about to have eye surgery while being awake the whole time.

I was amazed during the surgery how well informed I was kept. It comforted me to hear the entire process being narrated to me by Dr. Mitchell while Dr. Owczarek performed the surgery, which couldn't have lasted more than 10 minutes. After the surgery, I was checked again and sent home to rest and in just a few hours I could see normally with minimal discomfort.  By the next day I was back to work, no problem.  I'm proud to report I now have 20/20 vision.

Here is some feedback from my experience getting laser surgery at Eye Care of Delaware. Everything was handled perfectly from the initial consultation, through the surgery and the follow up visits. I was amazed how quickly and efficiently I was in and out and I never waited more than 5 minutes to be seen during each visit. The doctors and staff were all very friendly and knowledgeable and my vision is now better than 20-20. It was well worth the hour drive from Baltimore and I would definitely recommend Eye Care of Delaware.
